Perelandra is the second novel in a sci-fi trilogy by C. S. Lewis, published during World War II. In the novel, Perelandra is a mythical take on the planet Venus: an antediluvian paradise of gentle creatures, bountiful sustenance, and healing waters.

Lewis’s novel/planet is an awesome combination of diversity, divinity, and ecology that bears witness to the hubris and fragility of our species. We hope the bookshop carries the same energy!

Yes, we are more than happy to bring in particular titles for you! The best way to do this is to visit the shop, where there is a little booklet for special orders on the door to Joe’s office. If you can’t visit, feel free to inquire right here.

First of all, congratulations! The effort required to write a book is profound, and the ultimate object is an attentional refuge in our distracted age. Second, whether we can or will carry a particular title is essentially an open question.

We spend every day curating literature from across time and around the world. There is so much good work, and we’re not operating under the illusion that we’re able to carry more than a fragment of a fragment at any given point in time. How we navigate the abundance is in many ways an exercise in gravity and grace.

The best you can do is tell us about your book, maybe even give us a reading copy, if that is in your budget—we are always happy to learn about new material. But given the dynamics described above, it’s generally not possible for us to let authors know if or when their work is on hand.

Yes, we love hosting readings and book-related conversations. (We generally do not host signings unless they come in the wake of a dedicated event.) If you want to schedule something with us, there are two main things to consider:

First, it is important to have a plan for engaging our community. If you know folks who are excited to celebrate your work, or have a team who can help bring people out, then we can get the ball rolling! If you are new to Fort Collins or less sure of who will attend, there are lots of ways to get involved before hosting something new—Wolverine Farm's event schedule is replete with opportunities.

Second, we rely on industry standard terms to cover our expenses. Whether your book was published by you yourself or an established press, check to see that wholesale orders are 1) returnable, and 2) discounted at least 40%.
